Cosmetic Dermatology

Henning Dermatology has an aesthetic philosophy.  We want you to look your best, perhaps even your ideal younger self, but still look and feel like you.  We would like your friends and family to comment that you look so happy and rested, but unable to put their finger on what is different.  Well trained Cosmetic Dermatologists have a wonderful toolkit which is less invasive and less permanent than drastic surgical options. Pain is minimal with wonderful numbing creams or even injected anesthesia to make you the most comfortable.

We can help both men and women look their best. Some of these gems in our toolkit include:

Botox

A temporary neurotoxin which relieves wrinkles in motion, to give you a more youthful look.  Over time this causes the wrinkles to be softer. Common areas include the forehead, lines around the eyes, bunny lines of the nose, and the frown lines between the eyebrows. It can also be used to soften lines around the mouth. When done properly, you still have motion and expression in your face, with a softer and more youthful look. Many men also come in, seeking “Bro-tox.”  It’s not just for the ladies!

Fillers

A variety of fillers exist to fill the hollows of the face.  As people age, we lose fat in all the right places, which can leave you looking older and more tired.  Common areas where this facial volume is lost include the cheeks, under the eyes, around the mouth, in the lips, the hands, the temples, and even the earlobes. Different fillers are placed in different hollows of the face, at varying depths, and last for different lengths of time. Depending on how long you want the effects to last, we will tailor the treatment to you.

Chemical Peels

A variety of chemicals exist such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, trichloracetic acid and Jessner’s solution, which can peel the top layer of the skin.  This gives the skin a softer feel, a brighter glow, and evens out the skin tone. It is wonderful not only for making the skin look younger, but for also removing age spots, acne, and dark marks from the skin.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for Hair Loss

PRP is a new and extremely promising treatment for hair loss, specifically male and female pattern hair loss, as well as post-partum hair loss. A typical treatment course involves 3-4 treatments spaced one month apart.  PRP involves drawing blood from the patient, processing the blood, and then injecting the blood into the scalp. Plasma is a component of the blood that contains white blood cells and platelets that are high in protein and support cell growth. By injecting PRP into the damaged tissues, it helps stimulate the activity of the hair follicles and promote healing.

PRP Facial

Platelet Rich Plasma is obtained from the patient as described above, and the PRP is either injected into the face or rubbed into the top layers of the skin.  A microneedle device runs over the top layer of skin to rejuvenate the skin and also to push the PRP into the top layers of the skin. bathed on the top of the skin.

Laser Treatments

Dermatologists pioneered the first lasers.  Several kinds of lasers exist, which work by targeting specific structures in the skin.  The targeted structure is damaged, based on the wavelength of the laser, with minimal damage to surrounding tissues.  Some of these targeted structures include sun spots, blood vessels, tattoos, and hair. Important things to remember before getting laser treatment is to avoid the sun after the treatment, no plucking hair during laser hair removal treatments, and wearing sunscreen to protect any treated areas.  We offer these treatments in the office:

  • Laser Hair Removal
  • Red spots or blood vessel removal
  • Skin Rejuvenation and Tightening
